Welcome to Historic Guitar.

Our Guitars & Us

First and foremost this is a collection and we are enthusiasts. This does not mean that we don't sell the occassional guitar if we get a duplicate item or need to finance other aquisitions but we are NOT a shop. This is also not a reference site but more a general interest site to be enjoyed rather than to be used as the final word. Much of the information is highly condensed but enough to keep it interesting - We Hope - There are links in various places that will provide more in depth info.

Most of the guitars are from Japans  FugiGen Gakki , Matsumoku, Nippon or Terada factories from the late 70's to early 90's and for very good reason. These are the very best value guitars you can buy today with a quality that matches and often surpasses the high end USA guitars which in the most part they are copying. They are also  potential investment items and have been steadily rising in value as more and more people become aware of them. Demand is increasing and supply is fixed.

This fact has now started to be recognised in the mainstream media and there have even been articles in financial investment publications about the potential of vintage guitars.

There are other great guitars of interest not from the above factories but what they all share is a quality or rarity that has not been equalled since - unless you part with mega bucks.

The collection has been built over a period of time and the general condition is as good as we have been able to find. This is a standard we do not intend to let slip. There are brief descriptions of each guitar and a sometimes very potted history on the makers.

We hope you enjoy the site..
