The whole subject of vintage guitars is very complex and there are still massive discussions
today, some 30 years on about what was fact and what was fiction. There are Forums dedicated to many of the brand names which
are hyper active and which also on the whole do a great job in clearing up some of the mysteries.
You could be led to believe if you read the blurb on e bay or similar that everything that
came out of Japan ( if it did ) in that era was a Lawsuit Guitar and of a quality that blew the likes of Gibson and Fender
out of the water. This of course is absolute crap and Japan also managed to produce its fair share of Rubbish. I can't name
names for risk of starting another Lawsuit but the message is basically to do your homework before parting with your money.
The value of a Japan 1970s / 80s /90s guitar and its investment potential is the quality of
the guitar first and foremost as a superb musical instrument. All of the names on this site qualify for that accolade
plus a few names that are not in these pages. BUT beware also SOME of the earlier models even from these factories
hadn't really got there act together until the mid 70's - Again do your research..
A bit vague I know but without writing a book on the subject it will have to do. This is a
general interest site and not meant as a referance book.
Complicated - Yes . Worthwhile - Certainly
